LorI started homeschooling when my oldest was entering high school. I know…. His experience in public school had been that of a round peg in a square hole. We moved to Montessori school when he was in 4th grade, which was a bit better, as they didn’t try to force him to fit that square hole. However, at the end of 8th grade, Montessori education was ending, and our choices were public (not again), private (essentially public school structure, but you get to pay for it), or homeschool. After years of prodding to homeschool by my public-educator parents, I decided it was best for my son.
