Bio
My name is Caren Velarde and I am homeschooling 3 kids for 5 years now. My kids are 10, 13, and 16 years old. I am a fulltime mom who works from home and at the same time helps my husband to oversee our small printing press business.
In 2019, I started a facebook blog named, Going an Off-Grid Mom, which means that we went educationally off-grid from the traditional education system. My advocacy is to promote the freedom in learning by allowing our children to naturally discover their interests, talents, skills, strengths, and abilities by giving our full support as God-ordained parents. Since then, I have gained supporters from homeschool moms alike. I afterwards formed an online group which I named, Mommies Off the Grid, to serve as a channel to reach out those who are interested in homeschooling their children organically.
As Christians, I believe that homeschooling is not just an option. Rather, it is a natural calling embedded in us as parents. This is the education system that the Lord had originally designed for each family. Once I understood this, it became my mission to share this with as many as possible. I worked overtime to help worried and confused homeschoolers who were fed up from the traditional style of learning — and I am very much happy with it for I know that the Lord had called me for this.
