Christian Home Educators of West Virginia (CHEWV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, run entirely on volunteer service, that exists in part to promote homeschooling as a valuable means to strengthen families and disciple children in the Christian faith. They serve all homeschoolers across West Virginia, although their bottom-line legislative mission is to defend privately funded, parent-led education.
CHEWV’s founders were among those who worked hard to revive the right to homeschool back in 1986. CHEWV, as a distinctly Christian organization, was organized in 1990. Because they believe that our freedoms are endowed by our Creator and are inalienable rather than legislated, they come from a strong legislative position.
When you get practical help from CHEWV, you are accessing over 30 years of experience, including key legislative involvement, interaction with the WV code over decades of changes, and an understanding of what those changes entailed. You are also hearing from parents who have been in the trenches of homeschooling.
